Michael and Sarah’s August wedding has so many touching and beautiful details I could hardly wait to share it. My favorite detail might just be the handmade papercut Chuppah (which I might just need to borrow it God willing one day)! I hope you are as inspired by Sarah and Michael’s unique Jewish wedding as I am.
“My husband Michael Brasky and I got married August 19, 2013, at Congregation B’nai Jacob in Woodbridge CT.”
This was a “handmade” traditional Jewish wedding, with unique aspects at every turn. My mother made the following custom Jewish pieces for our wedding: the Ketubah, Simcha Chair, and Chuppah. The chuppah was a papercut-style canopy, using hand-cut ultrasuede with a sheer golden-brown satin underlay. She had never made anything like it in the past, and I wanted to help design a truly unique wedding canopy that would not be too distracting, yet would add an incredible look of beauty to the sanctuary.

Every guest received chocolate truffles from a vegan chocolate company based in Brooklyn. The chocolate boxes served as place settings, and were wrapped in handmade paper.
Having over 230 people was intimidating to plan for, but my family and I worked hard to prepare the beautiful details that made this an intimate and unique affair. Every guest received chocolate truffles from a vegan chocolate company based in Brooklyn. The chocolate boxes served as place settings, and were wrapped in handmade paper. Even the invitations were handmade; after designing our own invitation on the computer, our good friend let us use his in-home letterpress machine to hand-press each invitation, envelope, and RSVP card. The wedding dress, the jewelry, the wedding programs, even the pre-wedding cookies – all handmade and custom designed!”
