Couples are literally “ringing” in the new year with engagement season in full swing (I do love my puns) so it makes sense that this is when brides start looking for inspiration and trends that will be coming in 2013. Is it a coincidence that it is also award season? I think not! The red carpets are an amazing place to look for bridal fashions, color palettes and dare I say, even ketubahs! Now, before you call me crazy, hear me out; some of the best dressed celebs on the Golden Globes red carpet inspired me to look into popular ketubahs that match in color and style.

Lena Dunham’s structured gown by Zac Posen brought to mind this Stephanie Caplan “Beloved II”. Although Dunham’s gown was supposedly burgundy, it appeared to be a deep brown to all of us watching, so the various shades in the quotation remind me of this gown. The structure of the dress, the darted, clean lines, also made me think of this Ketubah in it’s simplicity and timelessness.

Claire Danes walked the red carpet just one month after she had her son and this Versace rich red dress perfectly flattered her and hid any signs of post-maternity tummy. Her look reminded me of “Love Period” by one of Ketubah.com’s newer artists Baruch Sienna. Sienna “wanted to strip away all the unnecessary decoration and ornamentation of [the] traditional Ketubot, while still making a strong statement…” I would use the exact same description of Danes. Her style is always simplistic, refined, and classic. If you are a similar bride or couple I would definitely suggest taking a look at this Ketubah.

Perhaps you’re a little more daring and intricate like Michelle Dockery, star of Downtown Abbey? Her look to this years’ Globes was quite different. The gold top is stunning in a golden shimmer but has a quiet sense of sexy with its nude background (a very popular trend on the runways and red carpets). This Alexander Vauthier design immediately reminded me of Susanne McGinnis’ “Romanza” ketubah. If you are having a gold wedding would it be so crazy to match your ketubah to perhaps a bridesmaid or family member’s dress inspired by Dockery’s gown? Or maybe incorporate the gold sophisticated pattern into your invitations or tableware.
