Embrace (Figs) Ketubah
by Nishima Kaplan
Ketubah Description
“…kiss me with the kisses of your mouth–for your love is better than wine…” (chap. 1:2) “The fig-tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.” –Song of Songs… Fig trees live for hundreds of years, connecting families across the generations. They are a symbol of endurance and victory, providing nourishment and shade even in years of drought. The two figs in this artwork represent you and your Beloved, nestled together in a sheltering embrace, yet separate and distinct individuals. The fig leaf represents the first Couple: Adam and Eve. May your marriage be like a fig tree, connecting your two families for now and forever, providing blessings and nourishment, and shading you under its protective canopy during more difficult times.
