Hamsa – Citron Ketubah
by Temma Gentles
Ketubah Description
This design is inspired by the vibrant colours, intricate patterns, exquisite filigree, pungent spices and folklore of Morocco and North Africa. The hand-shaped amulets appear throughout the world as symbols of good luck and protection, particularly during life cycle events. Here 18 (chai) pendants, many drawn from the collection of the Israel Museum, surround the ketubah text. The background fabric is a reproduction of screen-printed handwoven silk.
